Overall, Year 2009 was a great year. Lots of newcomers for the music scene.
Sadly, my Avril Lavigne didnt produce anything this year, but I am eagerly waiting for her new album, its coming out soon!

Alrights, so here it is....

Song of the Year:
Black Eyed Peas – I Gotta Feeling

I remembered they grabbed the same title back in 2003 with “Where Is The Love”. The BIG question: Will history repeat itself this year? Well, very likely. This 2nd single off their “The E.N.D” album was a brilliant shout and is the best summer party song being released this year. There is absolutely no doubt the Peas are still able to get people onto the dance floor. After a long day of work, you probably would want to listen to some music to throw all the stress away.

Chart Performance:
Singapore - 11 weeks overall, 3 weeks at the peak
US – 28 weeks overall, 14 weeks at the peak
UK – 24 weeks overall, 2 weeks at the peak

Female act of the Year:
Lady GaGa

A close fight between GaGa and Taylor.
It’s been a great and interesting year for both of them in fact. Gaga’s original tunes and great vocals are just the perfect ingredients for mainstream music. Drag queen isn't a bad starting point when describing the other side of Lady GaGa. Her image is both high fashion and trashy - she favours platinum blonde hair extensions, oversized sunglasses and catsuits. A stylish and ambitious gal!

Chart Performance:
1. Just Dance – 10 weeks overall, 2 weeks at the peak
2. Poker Face - 10 weeks overall, 2 weeks at the peak
3. LoveGame - 9 weeks overall, 2 weeks at the peak

Unfortunately, this is a year where the guys are really behind. Haha, sadly to say, but I really have no pick for this title. Where is Justin Timberlake? lol

It has to be them, no surprise! They spent a phenomenon 26 weeks with Boom Boom Pow and I Gotta Feeling on the US charts! BEP replacing BEP on the top spot with another song, lol. Its been some time since any one did that. They came down for F1, but I didn’t have the capital to buy a ticket to see them, boo!

Merry Christmas!

Day 1 - Dec 23

Woke up feeling ‘stuffy’, unwell, didn’t go lab
A random met-up with kh in the afternoon in town, thanks buddy for coming out so last min
Took a stroll downtown, visited 313, had Tiramisu Latte at Blue Mountain Cafe, nice!
Then went Daiso, Art house, Spotlight to shop for xmas DIY stuff n stickers

Day 2 - Dec 24

It was x’mas eve, pretty cold in the morning.
Appetite zero :x
decided to purchase Ensure from TTSH, been a long time since I did that.
Whole day I was on Ensure, didn’t eat much during the xmas dinner feast, sometimes its miserable to pretend
Sent relative back to Jurong, then back to town to meet meiy and deph.
Had my first foot reflexology, felt relaxed after half n hour 
Then we walked to all the way to Bugis, then went Minds Café for the first time, reached home at 3am, had fun tho with the games.
Gave meiy a DIY xmas farm, or shd I call it a cottage, eh, unsure.
Was embarrassed cuz I didn’t stick those men well onto the ‘snow’ styroform, then they started fallin off.
Lesson learnt: The ‘elephant glue’ dissolves the styroform. Something not known to MisterLyon whu is not good with arts n crafts, but likes to experiment.
Gave Deph a TAMA kimidoll. Tama’s spirit is precious/rare.
Deph’s a great friend to meiy, a gem that she has found in her life.

Day 3 - Dec 25

Merry Xmas!
Today was a simple day spent at the airport. Contented.
Simplicity is beautiful. 
Always have the habit to visit it on NY’s eve, but brought the trip forward this time round.
Searching for tranquility? Airport is the best option.
Really miss the time travelling…

Day 4 - Dec 26

Cousin’s wedding. I was one of the drivers.
Realize that the wedding day is the most tiring day, but then it’s the happiest day of their life.
So I guess all the preparation/efforts and money spent is worth it.
Overall, it was a simple wedding and also a gathering for all the cousins. Many changed lots, perhaps we don’t really meet up often, not even on CNY these years.
When people grow up, they tend to think differently and maturely. So even their parents can’t do much abt them but to let go.
Banquet was at Expo’s Bliss Restaurant.
I was suddenly pulled to the reception table and to assign seats to the guests,
when I don’t even know most of them.
Then the seating arrangement was so funny, but frustrated me at moments.
“So ermm, u from AMK right? Okie, pls go to this table.
Hi, where are u from? Toa Payoh ah? Okie, that table pls.”
Not enough preparation and coordination for this banquet. But….
Standard of the food: 9/10

Marriage is...

Dec 23 has arrived, sooner than I expected :(
Time to countdown 31 days.
and of course to deal with any unsettled business as soon as possible.

Met up with ESESC 1st MC for SEP farewell dinner tonight.
That seems to be one of the items on my list, so striking it off now.
Everyone was happy, so am I.
Thanks to those who came.

Lab Moving Day

Shifted most of our stuff to the new T-Lab,
I have lost count of the number of boxes that I sealed, carried and pushed.
There were only 2 workers assisting, sighz;
So everybody helped out :)
Tmrw shifting the fridges :x
Oh, and my PhD student treated us and the workers to coffee and muffins today,
which I felt was rather thoughful :)

It’s a rainy December, pretty apt for me to recommend this song, first single off her upcoming album which will be released 1 Jan 2010. I have not watched《海派甜心》, but I know Xiao Zhu has a mushroom head in this show lol. But I kinda like this song; it is now on repeat mode, 10 times daily. Didn’t really like her last album, maybe because her first album was such a success and I am still listening to 理想情人 quite often, yup, but nevertheless, this song would be real hot in the near future.

Just arrived home.

Scary

Drops of blood from the living room to my bedroom,
It seems rather scary, but I am still unsure of what actually happened.
All I could recall:
430am, I sat on the floor of my bedroom, the lights were on, saw droplets of blood,
then realized that I cut my toe really badly,
used tissue to stop the bleeding,
reached out to my wallet to retrive a plaster (I always have one to standby)
then I went to sleep after cleaning the blood stains on the floor. Zzz...

I didnt know there was blood in the living room still, until my parents woke me up at 6,
I guess it was dark when the incident happened,

But what actually took place? How did i cut my toe?
Am mysteriously dazzled by it.

So I am limping, can't wear covered shoes cuz it hurts...
Tough luck

though there may be a possibility I can't catch it,

The storyline of Swan Lake is really touching, 4 different acts, just wondering whats the ending gonna be like cuz there are various endings performed in other countries

Sometimes I do 'hate' myself for helping the people around me,
and at the same time, hurting myself, getting all the unnecessary comments from other people.
What for?
You help a friend, yet get screwed by another friend. Is that really what I want?
Must there always be a motive for helping people? Why are some people so practical?

Holidays

I guess I have been watching too much Taiwan dramas, HK serials, sighz,
and Lyon is getting so emotionally affected by them, tho I shdn't,
dramas are just dramas, but then part of me believes that certain scenarios do surface in our life.
Its hard to believe tt most of the time, drama reflects what happen in reality
so we, human beings, are just meant to deal with watever situation that arise,
hopefully to the best of our abilities....

Gosh, I am supposed to churn out some fyp reports for her, I havnt do yet :x

Away from weepy dramas, so I decided to listen to my mp3.

Nights in Rodanthe

Its a sad movie, according to wat meiling said.

Its tells the tale of a doctor (Richard Gere) en route to reconcile with his estranged son when his benevolent mission is sidelined upon checking into a North Carolina beach-town inn. When the doctor arrives at the inn, he enters into a passionate affair with an unhappily married woman (Diane Lane) who is currently considering divorce. So a geniune romance was borne.
The doctor left her eventually to live with his own son, but before he was able to be with her again, he was killed in a flash mudslide.....

So....
Its important to cherish every second with your loved ones,
because you do not know when they will be leaving you.

Lyon has always been keeping a memory box,
all the cards he has received, stickers, photos, movie tickets ....
he treasures them deeply :)

Stucked

Today didnt go for Sushi buffet with Joan, kj they all....
So joined them for pool in the afternoon,
was a fun day afterall,
but something was on my mind.

Received bad news yesterday night, something which i didnt expect, but it happened.
I was shocked,
2.5 yrs already, how time flies
yet it has to end up this way...
Its a tough decision to make, and I don't think I am in a position to ask why
so trying to salvage everything,
Have seen similar cases, but this one is a tough nut to crack
Lyon is trying to help out here, but sometimes he isnt sure if certain things are correct or wrong, so havin tat kind of hesitating feeling which is rather irritating.

I feel that punk rock bands are now taking a lot from pop mainstream. Well, I guess it’s the never-ending competition in the music scene. Anws, I totally dig this song, there is definitely a lot of chemistry between Boys Like Girls and Taylor Swift, didn’t expect this collaboration tho.

Lead singer/songwriter Martin Johnson's falsetto complements Taylor's sweet tone, and producer Brian Howes builds an orchestral arrangement around their vocals that would be well-suited to a climatic movie moment.

ESESC 2nd Comm Retreat

Really missing my Hazulnut cappucino, so came over to satisfy my craving :)
The atmosphere here is really nice, its not really hot cuz the nice waiter sat me under the cold aircon, woohoo
haha, wise of me to bring along my lappie with me, its always there to keep me company lol

So today was esesc 2nd comm retreat,
well it looked more like a gathering to me, i dun recall we doing anything esesc-related
Then we introduce ourselves, I intro myself as the roots of the plant. The foundation..but then come to think abt it, I dun really like drinking water haha
then played pictionary, chose the category 'Personality', and got the words "Lady GaGa", haha, so hengz, my fav singer this year, wanted to draw her special pair of specs from Paparazzi video, but doubt anyone will watch, then suddenly think of her hit song "Poker Face"....yup, just draw dots on the face la..lol

Then we split into groups to find food, it was a potluck for dinner, kind of like this idea where we buy lots of food put onto the table, like buffet lol.

So lastly was the skit, our group did a combination of many fairy tales: 3 little pigs, snow white, goldilocks & 3 bears blah blah...so the snow white came in to eat the porridge that the pigs cooked, so tired she fell asleep, just then the random frog came in to kiss her, then lol frog became wolf, and snow white became fairy godma. So the wolf tried to blow the straw and wooden house, success! But then when he tried to blow the pumpkin house, guess wat

Mei Ling's 22nd

So it was Mei Ling's 22nd Birthday today,
one day before her last paper, one day after my last paper, lol
And since we didnt get to celebrate her 21st here, decided to organise a mini birthday celebration together with the juniors, since she has been studying with them for the past wks.

Went over to AllanBakes (http://www.allanbakes.com) yesterday evening to order a carrot cake and luckily I was able to collect it this morning. Nice little cafe at The Village Center. The baker/owner was really friendly and trusted me cuz I forgot to bring cash for deposit, he said its okay :)

This semester is over, whee!

Had 2 exams back to back. Today's TE was a Tsunami (copyright KL :p), haha, almost drowned when I saw the first 3 qns. Its like the big wave approaching liao, cannot siam. Seems like I can only complete the graphs with ease, and my calculations were rather messy. Luckily got Qn 4, my swimming float lol, somehow its seems "friendlier" then the first 3, or else I would probably be lying on the seabed right now, motionless :x
So did I manage to swim back to shore with the float? haha, shall see on Dec 22.

Maths UE was one day before, and right after the exam the solutions were posted onto ivle, but didnt dare to download it, not really bothered abt it. Just felt that the lecturer shd include more difficult examples in the notes and tut, suan le...I felt a bit cheated :<

Is 2012 a nice movie? Everyone is talking abt it, but dun think I can sit there for 3 hours lol

Oh, and Swan Lake is coming to esplanade, very nice dance ballet, I want to go!
