Less than an hr left before 2008 arrives. That's really fast. People always quote "It is not the destination, it is the journey that matters". Pretty true, isn't it? At the beginning of every year, I always think that time is passing by so slowly and hope that Dec would come soon. Now that the year is almost over, it kind of triggered me to think back and reflect on the 'journey' that I have experienced thus far....
2007 has been a fruitful year for me. Giving tuition, doing part-time cashier-ing and performing office work have again given me the opportunity to experience the working life. The past 2 sch Semesters to me are like stepping stones to future challenges. Good thing is I am still able to identify some mod as my favs, it just makes my life more interesting. As the difficulty level increases in the coming few Sems, I hope that I am still able to cope with the work load. I know I will, cuz I have a group of good friends who will jiayou with me all the way. Got to kno a group of year 1 poly students a few mths back, did CE proj with them, really missed the good times we spent together. EVE friends, glad that our friendship is getting better and better. I can tell, and am trying to know everyone since our class is so small, 40 plus pple only...
Still remember the day where kailuen meimei started her hostel life. Shifted dunno how many boxes over to ntu, oh ya and a couple of suitcases if I never rem wrongly. Funny thing is we almost got stuck at the staircase when the gate just couldn't open, then we keep on scanning the hall entry card, everyone tried their luck. I am glad she has been coping well so far. I don't have many juniors from xms nowades, but so far she is the smartest that I have seen. Will be going ntu next wk, probably meeting up with her for kopi or lunch...
A few sad events that happened to me in 2007. Just going to list one. I just hope history won't repeat itself again. Lost a relative just 1 wk before my final exams, that happened a mth ago. Cancer is really scary, and she dragged the illness for 4 mths till that day. Was a lil' upset over the bad news, but pulled myself up and tried my best to study during the reading week. Her memories will always stay with us.
OMG! I realise something, I just saw a couple of prezy I havnt open. Some are belated birthday presents. Really happy that presents still come in one mth after my Bday. lol, I am still thankful to them lah...I dunno if my memory is getting worse, I keep forgetting things, now forgot to open up my prezy. Must go open le, still have 20 mins to New Year.
Before I end off with this last entry for 2007, I just want to say that the happiest thing that happen to me this year is to go out with her. Those beautiful memories will always remain till the end of time. Glad to always have u to keep me motivated. I guess the greatest love for a person is to sacrifice and care for him/her without any reason. It is unconditional, it can never be seen by the eye, but it can be felt by the heart.

A Musical Journey
29 December, 2 more days to the year-end countdown. It's time once again to think back and reflect on the songs that shook the music industry this year. Which number 1 hit song do most people like? Which artist/band enjoys the greatest success this year? Below are some of my views and predictions.
Top 5 songs of 2007
1. My Chemical Romance - Welcome To The Black Parade
A rock song which was carried over from last year, good thing it didn't appear in the countdown that time cuz I know it would be a big hit this year. This song spent an amazing 5 weeks at #1 on the local charts and is still highly requested for on the radio. A loud number which people would never get tired of, that to me, is already an amazing feat.
2. Rihanna Featuring Jay-Z - Umbrella
If MCR didn't get the #1 song this year, I am quite sure it would go to Rihanna. Tough choice cuz this song didn't do too bad this year. Spent 3 straight weeks at #1 in Singapore, and an incredible 10 straight weeks at the top of the UK charts. Who wouldn't recognise the tune of this song if u go around humming "Ella ella eh eh eh..." Catchy chorus, fresh collaboration, well, what can I say? This song is probably the 黑马, they call it the black horse...lol
3. Beyonce - Irreplaceable
Ha, I still remember this song being featured on the TV ad for a mobile phone, forgot what model already. "To the left, to the left...", one of the fav sing-a-long songs introduced this year. Spent 3 weeks at #1 in Singapore. She is one-third of the former band Destiny's Child, probably the best singer compared to the other two.
4. Akon Featuring Eminem - Smack That
"Look back and watch me smack that, all on the floor, smack that, give me some more..." Alright, was addicted to this song during the summer and it became my ringtone in the end. The result of putting 2 rappers together - a #1 smash hit. Lead-off single from his 2007 album "Konvicted" and this song held the #1 spot for half a month in Singapore. Well, given more time, he could possibly replace Justin Timberlake in the R&B music industry. As they always say, 长江后浪推前浪 , time will tell...
5. Timbaland Featuring Nelly Furtado & Justin Timberlake - Give It To Me
OR
Timbaland Featuring OneRepublic - Apologize

I am not sure if the latter song is in this year's countdown, but if it is, there shouldn't be any problem scoring a top 10 position. Chartwise, "Apologize" at #1 for 1 whole month recently while "Give It To Me" peaked at e same position for 2 weeks in early 2007. A lot of controversy over the song "Apologize". Apparantly, people are saying credits should go to OneRepublic cuz Timbaland did nothing except humming "heh, heh...". Alright, he needs to step up and start singing on his own. Yet, the collaboration for "Give It To Me" was another breakthrough for Timbaland. Sometimes I just wonder should he just do production or singing?
Male Artiste of the year (2007)
Akon
I have to give it to him. 佩服,佩服. He holds three #1 singles this year - "Smack That", "I Wanna Love You" & ballet "Don't Matter". Plus, he collaborated with Gwen Stefani on "The Sweet Escape", also with Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony and T-pain and many more. It is a long list anyway. Aiya, it's the Akon year they say. Somehow his songs always start with him singing the word "Konvict", not sure why he did that, but I still think he did very well this year. The next Eminem to be...
Female Artiste of the year (2007)
Avril Lavigne
"Hey hey you you..." haha, I can still remember her hit single "Girlfriend" and not forgetting the emotional ballet "When You're Gone". I still think that video should be given the "Most Touching Video of 2007" award. She is happily married, making a comeback this year with "The Best Damn Thing". Each single held the #1 spot for 2 straight weeks. This shows that Avril fans are still out there rooting for her even though she MIA for a couple of years. A little hiccups for her this year when she was embroiled in a plagiarism case over her hit tune "Girlfriend" and was sued by the band "The Rubinoos" for allegedly stealing parts of "Girlfriend" from their 1979 tune "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend". Hopefully, she has settled it out of court. Another single from her in the beginning of the year was "Keep Holding On", lead-off single of the soundtrack of the movie "Eragon" and was as one of the songs short-listed for the "Best Original Song" category at the 2007 Academy Awards. Overall, I think she deserves to be Best Female Artiste of 2007, still expecting more hit singles to be released from her current album.
Band of the year (2007)
My Chemical Romance
我的化学浪漫, that's their chinese name which I once saw in Zao Bao, then I burst out laughing. Anyway, it is no doubt that "The Black Parade" album has been well received by their fans and is now Platinum. Releasing 4 rock singles this year - "Welcome To The Black Parade", "Famous Last Words", "I Don't Love You" and "Teenagers", they are not those people who would settle for love ballets. Their music has been described by the media as "pop punk" and "emo". Haha, album pics may look a lil' scary for young kinds, skeletons here and there but MCR explained that they have been influenced by horror films and comic books, and hence their music and image all portray overt elements of fantasy, storytelling and fear. Several new rock bands such as Red Jumpsuit Apprartus and Daughtry have emerged in the music industry, it is a tough choice but MCR has really produced the best results this year.
Thats all I have to say, hope that there would be more exposure to even greater hits in the coming new year....

Merry Christmas!
Its Christmas! hohoho...Had a really good rest today, woke up at 12.30pm...lol..not that I was out partying the previous nite till the wee hours. Went out with friends on X'mas eve, met up with CL and her friend till 11 plus. Tired from all the squeezing along the busi streets of Orchard. The crowd is totally crazy, some keep on pushing and pushing, got me a lil irritated for a moment. But the X'mas spirit is there, everybody is happy, so am I.....
Really need to save money le, just bought concert tickets at $128...Mister Lyon is officially broke!

Merry X'mas!

Back! Christmas around the corner
Mister Lyon is back from the terrifying exams, only blogging after enjoying 4 days of post exam hols….hehe…it is really weird, I have been going out for these 4 days and it rained every day. Then today when I decided to slack at home, it didn’t pour at all, until abt 3pm when I was buying Nasi Lemak from the kopitiam, it started to drizzle, then getting worse….Arrgg…bad day, now I kno how much the sky hate me….but somehow we have something in common, our mood changes easily, that I admit…
Mon going for ChESS meeting at downtown, got to present some workplan, so today intending to think abt the stuff we have done so far. Actually, nothing much, other than welfare survey and exam package. Zusammen is a big event on the calendar and it is going to give us a big headache just to organize it, so many things must ‘bao ga liao’. Went to sch yest to discuss with the committee (actually just the 2 heads and president), realized that Zusammen must be held before CNY. OMG! Meaning to say in week 3….guess we would be v busi that time. But come to think abt it, the earlier we do it, then can enjoy New Year ma ^^
After my last paper on Tue, went to cruise on the KPE, didn’t had the time to try this underground tunnel expressway ever since it opened in Oct. I was on the ECP from sch, then missed the entrance to the KPE (there wasn’t even any early notice). Okay okay, partly because I was siam-ing away from the speed camera, keeping to the limit of 70 while going downslope (very difficult unless there is a jam) and when I notice the entrance, it was too late to change from Lane 1 to 4 at such a short time. Main thing is the blur me missed the entrance la, anywae, did a little detour and went into the tunnel. Very short one cuz they only opened up 3km of the highway. Nevertheless, it was a fun ride with only a few veh in the tunnel (their hidden speed cameras r everywhere ma).
Bought Jay's album and I must say he hasn’t disappointed me again. Really dig his love ballets like 彩虹 and 我不配. His concert tics are really hot la, there were news that all the tics have been pre-ordered even before they were on sale at sistic. Now all sold out ..‘Bou liao’….Don’t think got a chance to go again. Just a few days ago, ocean was telling me she wanted to buy and go, then I gave her the bad news….kind of made her lose her sleep…but still got 1 mths time…so cannot lose hope...hehe…

Going to enjoy this 1 mth vacation, a lot of shopping to do n a lot of friends to catch up with. I kno it is going to be fun. Must cherish every boring day cuz the whole study cycle will resume before I kno it. Going to organize all my mp3s cuz they are all lying around, oh ya, the year end countdown coming, going to pick out my 5 predicted songs of the year. A lot of “going”s,…haha…well planned hols to relax..
EVE BBQ gathering most likely is end of this year. East Coast better or Pasir Ris? Hmm..
Notice I didn’t talk abt exams, actually I have a lot to say, but I have decided to just keep them to myself this time. 27 Dec is declared ‘Dooms Day’ :(
Okay, ready, getset, Time to start sending X’mas cards!!!
Song Recommendation of The Week:
More country music released towards the end of this year. Nope, she has absolutely nothing to do with Taylor Hicks, that American Idol whom I’m nt sure what he’s doing these days. She is an American country singer cum songwriter. Another ballet all abt a girl having a crush on a guy (Drew) who is interested in another gal. Imagine that kind of feeling u would have if u like someone who is so close to you but out of your reach. She has talent, no doubt, but her lack of maturity is showing. Realized that her vocals stay flat during the verses. But overall, this is a pretty good song for the vacation....... Enjoy!
Btw, I give this song 4.0 out of 5 星星s.
