Back in action

Okie, decided to pen something on this fri morning, since I have no lessons for this first half of the day. Back to sch though the rashes have not fully recovered, it takes time. But I am glad to see spots disappearing each day, lucky that no new ones emerged. Don't really trust Mt Alvernia docs anymore, maybe I shouldnt have gone there for consulation in the first place. Two different docs gave me different diagnosis. I wouldnt believe it was chicken pox, as diagnosed by the first doc. His words sort of convinced me that it happened to me the second time. Okie, so I was given some antibiotics which cost abt 60 bucks, of coz including the consultation and all that, I ended up paying 100 bucks. Two days later, was told to consult the same doc but he wasnt on duty, so another doc examined the spots again and smiled at me, "pity rosea", thats what he said. A bit stunned initially. So it is not chicken pox lah. The worse thing is I have to purchase another set of med. Antibiotics, well, I was told not to take anymore. Wtf, I have only taken like a few tablets lor...wasted lah.....

EVE gathering yesterday with head. A bit bored by his talk, but luckily it didnt take long. Tink most of us turned up, really glad. Disappointed that someone I expected to see didn't appear, but never mind. Anyway, I think they should have taken a class photo yesterday but maybe it slipped their mind. The only pic I have for my class is the one taken at the welcome tea. haha....

Lastly, Happy Teachers Day to all in the teaching profession, including all tuition teachers. In fact, I think all of us are considered "teachers", we teach each other new things everyday. We learn from each other, don't we....

Song Recommendation of The Week:
Eve Featuring Sean Paul – Give It To You

Really like the pairing of these two singers. The Caribbean-tinged, “Give It To You” is the first single taken from Eve’s new album, Here I Am. Perhaps this song should be credited to dancehall reggae star, Sean Paul who always gets most of the spotlight. Never mind if u can’t catch the lyrics of this song coz no one can really understand what Sean Paul is rapping or singing. It doesn’t really matter though, just enjoy the beat and dance lor…

Btw, I give this song 4.0 out of 5 星星s.

Bad Day

To the Malay cyclist kid that I almost knocked down today :

Consider yourself lucky today that I stopped in time. I wouldn't say the same for other drivers. Please go and learn when is the right time to cycle across the road, not when the "red man" is on and vehicles are about to move off. So what u are a cyclist? Life is precious, u only have one, so cherish it well.

Frankly speaking, I am really pissed with you. Good luck...

Salsa?

Finally decided which tutorial timeslots to ballot for...Most of the mods share the same timeslot lor. Whats there to decide? haha....hmm, a few days ago, qt asked me to join salsa with her, she wants me to be her partner. lolx....I cant imagine myself doing social dance. Can u? Maybe I consider.....can destress....:p

Sitting beside Ocean today for 6 hrs and talking to her really made my day. Hoping for more chances to come....Really cherish those moments....

Song Recommendation of The Week:
Corrinne May – On The Side Of Me

U probably have seen the TV ad for her new album “Beautiful Seed”. Local singer-songwriter back with more songs which describe her life and spiritual experiences. I really admire her voice and her works. She draws a lot of inspiration and writes a lot of songs which people find it easy to relate to. Really heartfelt lyrics for this song that is all about the power of love. Nice piano tune….

Everyone needs a friend to hold
when it's cold outside
and there's no place to go
Everyone needs a friend to hold
all alone I cried
there was no place to go
I remember when nobody cared
but you

First wk over!!!

First wk of sch had just flown by, glad that I had survived it, sad that I still can't understand some of the things that were being taught. Sold my mle and electrical eng textbks, and coincidentally, one of the buyers was from EVE. Still considering whether to purchase struc text, though the lecturer kept on saying there was no need to get one. Tutorial balloting starts today...headache again, hope I could get those timeslots I wanted. If not, must standby on wed to do a swap if possible....

Had a pretty long day on Wed and Thur. Sch ended on 3pm on Wed and I had to rush to Jeremy's house by 4pm to give extra tuition. His sch had given him a couple of days OFF for some e-learning assignments and he requested for tuition. Didn't wanted to teach initially coz sch starting this wk but since he was so eager to learn, I find no reason to reject him. Managed to rush out some teaching material after sacrificing a few hrs of sleep. Haha...and I started yawning after teaching for an hr. Maybe I was really too tired that day. I had never yawned during tuition, or maybe I didnt realise it. Was really glad that his maths is improving after a few mths of tuition, otherwise I might be "sacked"..lol

My favourite mod is now gem2900. The only mod that I could finally understand. I am not saying that it is easy, maybe is becos of my interest ba. The best thing is that there is no tutorials and no projects. Yay! Pretty worried initially coz they actually included a group project in the CA assessment in precious sems. And I have enuf CE projects lor...they can't be that cruel to me. Thur lec started at 6pm, and I entered the LT abt 20 mins late. Actually I was already 5 mins late when I reached Sci fac, I thought LT 32 could easily be found just by following the signs. I ended up walking for 15 mins, passing by several LTs, finally found it at the "hill top". Ya, located at the top of a multi storey carpark, at dept of bio sci. A bit restless after wondering for so long, luckily lec ended pretty early, abt 720pm....tired le...I hope people can request for a webcast for this late Thur lec. But my CE modules cannot be webcasted la, no camera behind LT2....I want Webcast!!! Coz I dun understand the german lecturer leh....haha....his accent....okay, I know....Lyon very bad, everytime criticize people.....I think I must go and 自我反省.....

Sem 3 commences

First day of sch started with 6 hrs of lectures in LT2. Best thing abt this LT is that it is never too cold, yup, finally got away from LT7A - The Freezer. Really worried abt the uncertainty module, what is he trying to say? I guess I really need to get the text asap. Gd thing is this mod doesnt have lab sessions. The rest of CE mods have projects also (just saw Infrastructure lectures notes, haiz...) Hydraulics lecture gives me memories of my SS mod which I took in Sem 1. A lot of pics, little notes....I dun think he went thru a lot of things today. Struc lec was okay, just a bit worried abt the lab project. I got to admit the lectures are boring today. Maybe I still need some time to adapt to sch life....

Song Recommendation of The Week:
Aly & AJ – Potential Breakup Song

My favourite upbeat song at the moment. These 2 acting/singing sisters, Alyson and Amanda Joy Michalka, have obviously gone thru a rough patch in their own relationships. Their latest album “Insomniatic” seems to be a bit more emo and personal compared to their previous work. This song is a straightforward, almost bitter song about, yup, a breakup of course. The beat, the lyrics are so catchy, just can’t seem to get tired of this number. This is wat I call “Sister Power”….

Btw, I give this song 3.5 out of 5 星星s....

End Of Vacation

Okay...today looks like the last weekday that I can actually wake up at 11am. Seemed to have gotten used to sleeping late and waking up even later in the morning. I think I may be suffering from insomnia, always tossing around on my bed for an hr before I can actually get to slumberland. Bad habit....Haiz, first lesson is at 9am nx monday, how am I going to wake up at 7?

Good thing is I managed to bid for my ctw class successfully. Well, the class had only 4 vacancies and coincidentally the 4 bidders are all from EVE, including me. haha, so everything is in control already. Kept on monitoring the screen for any last min "intruder" but luckily, there were none. 4 bidders at the end of the round and we got it at 1 pt!

Till now, most of the lecture notes are not uploaded. The lecturers are still in vacation mode....

Random Entry: What actually plagues the CTE (Central Expressway)?

Before I went to bed yesterday, I happened to come across this 2-page article in Lian He Zao Bao. They were discussing abt the daily heavy jams along the CTE in the morning despite the increasing ERP prices on the 2 main gantries. It seemed that ERP has somehow proven to be ineffective especially along this particular highway. What actually is the problem? Is it because there are too many vehicles on the roads? But isn’t COE supposed to curb the vehicle population? LTA still planning to increase the number of lanes to 5 or 6 just in AMK area. Also, the Kallang/ Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) is now in the process of construction and once completed, it could be the only way to “save” the CTE. The longest tunnel in Singapore will stretch from the East Coast Parkway (ECP) in the south of Singapore to the Tampines Expressway (TPE) in the northeast, providing an alternative route between the city and the north of Singapore. Time will tell if it actually works. From my point of view, apart from the growing population in AMK, yishun, hougang area, the CTE itself possesses some flaws. Too many entry and exit points that are too near to each other. AMK is a very good example. Big problem here, imagine AMK vehicles entering the CTE all at the same time from the various AMK entrances, jams are thus unavoidable. ERP starts operation at 7.30am during wkdays, so people are just rushing to get onto the CTE before this time. If everybody thinks the same way, the jams could start as early as 7am. I guess it is time that people stop relying on the expressway too much, yes I can understand how fast u can reach work or sch by using the highway, but with such heavy jams occurring on the CTE everyday, most people would be late. For me, I will never touch the CTE in the morning if I drive to sch, I would rather find other connecting routes. Despite the number of traffic lights along the way, I guess it couldn’t be worse than having to be stuck in heavy jams together.

Just a random entry, a bit boring I know…..lolxx…

Song Recommendation of The Week:
Rihanna – Shut Up And Drive

Okay, since I jus won her CD and crapped abt CTE and all that, might as well talk abt her new song. By the way, I am not going against drivers who love to talk while driving, though the song title explained itself. Personally, I view this number as one of the best summer songs ever. Begins with huge guitar power chords moving into a fun, summer singalong atmosphere. Aiyah, just bang your head to this amazing powerful rock song….time to step up to the beat!

Anyway, Rihanna is launching a range of her own umbrellas! No kidding….It is a clever marketing ploy which comes just days after it was revealed that "Umbrella" is the longest number one single in the UK in over ten years. I was just thinking, if her new song “Shut Up And Drive” can attain such success for her again, she can consider selling second hand cars right here in Singapore….in Ubi lor… just kidding….

Btw, I give this song 3.0 out of 5 星星s....
