Week 5

Losing my voice

Argg...I am having a sore throat these few days and unsubsiding fever. Sometimes it is there, sometimes it is not. Sianz...Skipped Solid Waste lecture today, I would probably doze off with my conditition. But I still manage to attend the 2nd and final air quality lab which dragged all the way till 545pm....was pretty tired by then.....

Its Friday!!! Finally, I am given some time off to breathe....

Hope tmr would be a better day, ward all evils...lol..

Song Recommendation of the Week:
Jason Mraz Featuring Colbie Caillat - Lucky

He came down for SingFest last month but I did not go.
Actually I am not really interested in him lah but more on Alicia Keys and Panic! Ya, but back to this song, the follow-up single to “I’m yours”, taken from his third studio CD, We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. Actually after sampling this whole album, I realize it's a delicious collection of songs: some sweet, some sexy, and some just fun. He is a fun guy indeed; in fact, he once said in an interview that he'd rather crack a joke than ruminate on life and stuff. This album is not as acoustically driven, I believe less attention was given to the guitar, and even the live band feel. (Btw, he is one of those pple who CAN really sing ‘live’)

“Lucky” is a simplistic and being in love with a best friend song, featuring Colbie Caillat on vocals. Actually the duo’s voices can really blend in beautifully, allowing the harmonies and voices to carry the song through, instead of relying on instruments. Best if this song can be performed on acoustic.

This is going to be the future fav for k-box peeps!

Btw, I give this song 4.0 out of 5 星星s....

Like the ocean.......

Like the ocean, love can be rough
Or like the ocean, it can be calm
sometimes you sail smoothly
And sometimes you feel like you hit a bomb

Emotional day

Today is a rather moody day for me. The reason is unknown. Perhaps I havn't been slping well lately. Woke up at 230am yesterday morning just to figure out the first fna tutorial. Terrible. -_-Went to science library at 830am though lessons start at 12. Supposed to study, yet the motivation just isn't there. Am I distracted by some other stuff? I really dun know, but I am trying my best to just concentrate on my studies first.

58 days more to that 'big day', well, at least to me....

缘分

人与人之间的缘分其实是很奇妙的,它是无所不在的, 但是也因为自己那固执和任性,没有好好地努力抓住它。

我其实根本不信缘分,但现在我领悟了。。。

Updates....

Actually I am now at NYP library, yeah, I sneaked in, lol. Shh…So I am now at a little corner blogging. Waiting for the photocopy Auntie to zap 5 books of Env Microbiology book….

So 2nd wk of sch started, and we already had to do a project presentation yesterday. Lots to come for this Air Quality module and others too. 3 group projs, 1 individual proj and several labs (I don’t wanna count). I am trying to get into the mood of studying cuz its been a while since I read notes. Yup, I don’t study during hols, considering my internship commitment; I don’t have time to do the things I wanted.

Thurs was a free day for me last wk. Woke up early to go for jogging at Punggol Park cuz its been a while since I ran. Terrible…perhaps I need to exercise more often ba, that is if I can find time. Rested for a day before going for an expensive physical training with Gavin last Sat where we went to Yishun Safra. $8.55 for entry. Gosh! But at the end of the day, it was worth it even though I kept lamenting on the threadmill, frankly it was not up to my standard. I think the meter is a bit lagging. Okay, maybe I am just fuzzy…..

ICCS in a month’s time, 20 Sep. I really hope it is a success esp that we are the ones organizing it.

Counting down, 4 mths more to California!!! I can’t wait to go there…..

The birth of E-ZAC

We finally have our own Environmental Engineering Club. Yeah! After a few months of hardwork and precious vacation time sacrificed, the committee has been set up. Actually I was really surprised when Guideng contacted me during the hols to ask if I wanted to help out. The first question that popped out in my mind: “Why was I picked?” haha, In fact, I wasn’t very close to him, only met him during ICCS and a couple of ChESS gathering. But then I agreed despite knowing my busy sch commitment and my NYAA stuff. Well, he seemed confident that the formation of this club would be a success. And it did!!!

Great to see a whole bunch of ESE enthusiatics working together....

Internship

3 months ago, I used to complain that internship life is boring, esp when there wasn’t anything for me to do except reading files. Was always looking forward to 6pm everyday where I could finally leave the dreaded place. Imagine spending abt 10-11 hrs in the office facing the computer, reading the case studies of past projects which I can’t really understand. Was a nightmare then! I don’t even dare to tink abt it now. But was really glad that things changed for the better towards the end of the internship period when I was attached to another supervisor, Joseph, whom I really learned a lot from. I was given opportunities to attend meetings and go for site inspections. Being with him just makes me feel more like an engineer! But the sad thing is Joseph is a workaholic, his table is so messy and he works overtime regularly. Sometimes I felt paiseh when I wanna knock off at 6pm and he is still mugging. Yup, so 1 Aug was the last working day and I was given a surprise farewell party (Actually I alr guessed it). Was a bit tongue-tied when I was asked to give a thank-you speech cuz there were too many pple I wanted to show my appreciation to. ^^

The last week of my attachment was a rush for me. Wanted to get the report out on that Mon but fell terribly sick for two days. Laptop wasn't with me on Wed due to Matric fair and I couldn't do anything as I forgot to save all the info to my thumbdrive. In the end, I didn't slp on Thurs night...haha....Alright, I managed to chiong one decent report out (it has to be min 15 pages) on Friday which my supervisor gladly signed. That was when I heaved a sigh of relief.....

The 3-months attachment at NEA was a challenging yet rewarding experience for me. Apart from making significant progress in understanding the various air and water pollution control methods, I learned important working techniques from my fellow colleagues which are applicable in the future. Not forgetting the qualities of self-motivation, communication and initiative which are vital for success. For me, the learning journey never ends....

These are just some of my 'teachers'. As the saying goes, 姜还是老的辣....

My second supervisor, Joseph (right)

Rahman (left) who brought me on site visits. Lucky he has a car or I would probably be spending my day travelling around =)

Chief Engineer presenting a farewell gift to me. He is the 'tiger' of Pollution Control Dept (PCD). When he was on leave, we almost ordered pizza to celebrate. lolxx..Oops! hope he wun be reading this......

They gave me a blue shirt and a beautiful card. 太感动了!!

A place which brings back memories

Was at IMM today to scout for digital cameras as there was a roadshow over there. The idea to get one for myself has always been on my mind since I started my internship. Somehow I have started to like photography…..

Went for coffee at Coffee Club and ordered a hazelnut cappuccino (I always do), looking through the pamphlets I got from Samsung and Sony. While munching on the hazelnut biscuit, I suddenly stumped upon today’s date.

6 months ago, same day, same time, I was at that particular place with her.
That was the first time we went out alone together. Today I was just there alone. Now I do realize I miss her a lot….

Broke Record!

Broke my personal record today!

- Attended 6 meetings in a day, haha, basically I wasn't focusing on the last 3 projects, a bit shag at that time so I kept noding. lol

- I counted and actually took 16 bus trips in a day. Can't believe. Was a bad day, wanted to take bus 62, thot I was familiar with the hougang/sengkang route. Kay kiang, never check properly the exact bus stop to alight to change to 62. And one of the buses almost met with an accident. As always, I hate drivers who don't bother to signal while changing lanes.

No strength to blog on, cuz I going to dreamland le...
