Goodbye 2010

It’s the end of 2010, a very rewarding and fulfilling year indeed. I was on my bed yesterday night trying to recall what I have done for the past 365 days. A lot of things went through my mind; the life I am living now was a lot different than those slogging days before graduation. New friends come into my life every year, although a handful somehow mysteriously disappeared. It’s a tough job keeping in contact with everyone since our lives are a lot busier than before. Actually every time I miss any outing, I will feel really bad and sometimes I do wonder if that will be the last gathering. I do realize that I can’t be a good programme organizer, but I will always try my best. Most important thing is to cherish every opportunity with the people around you.

5 brave/weird/irrational events that happened to me this year

1. My classmate got married and I promised to be her groom’s ‘Brother’. It was a fun but tiring day helping out with the procedures and I realized I learnt a lot about the Chinese marriage customs. At the end of the day, everything you do is worthwhile.

2. Never thought MisterLyon would be on stage performing. Yeps, joining CJ School learning Basic Korean Hip Hop and then performing for their annual concert was something BIG that happened to me. 19 November 2010, a date to mark down on my calendar. And of course getting to know those dance enthusiastics having the same kind of interest. Life isn’t that boring after all! Oh, best part is that our clique actually did a little dance clip for the school as xmas present.

3. Paying $50 parking fine was the biggest punishment I got at the start of the year. I thought that was ALL. Nope! Two weeks ago, I was issued a $130 fine from LTA for driving in the bus lane during peak hours. So this year I didn’t buy any Xmas present for myself. I appealed against my offence, still waiting for results. Rather confident that I had some reasons for driving in that lane. Wish myself lucksss!

4. Nobody would have thought that MisterLyon will queue overnight for Super Junior Concert Tickets! LOL. Yes I did, not really in the main queue. Oh well, if dear Avril were to come, I don’t mind doing it again.

5. Photos have not been up yet but I went on a graduation trip with my buddy to Sydney at the end of May. It is the 2nd time I travelled without my family. I feel it’s good to have somebody to take care of and to be taken care by while in a foreign country. I still feel paranoid when I thought of myself in Paris two years ago, travelling alone with no directions. Nobody speaks English to me! Bonjour also no use =( Come to think abt it, Paris was the worse trip that I planned for myself and I would still want to go there again, fight those challenges with more confidence. There are more places for me to explore. My next destination will probably be London (What? AGAIN!!) or Switzerland.

8 (*Huat*) resolutions for 2011

1. I need to find a good time to tidy up my room. Hmm…where should I put those university notes and books? I like to keep these things because I fear that I may need them in future. I need to organize myself too! Arrgg..then where should I put myself? LOL

2. I want to learn a new kind of dance; of course Hip-Hop would still be ongoing. MisterLyon wants to perform again on stage.

3. Personal (Highly confidential)

4. Not to say that my driving is really dangerous, but I do need to drive more safely. I need to tell myself to drive slower. My mum always nags, but I know what’s going on. 2010 was a peaceful year, I didn’t even encounter any near-accidents but I need to continue to maintain my 5-year clean record!

5. I aim to help my tuition kids to get As! It’s time to raise the standards a bit higher. In the beginning, they just want a pass to get promoted. Now that I have helped them to achieve it, I should do something for them for their last leg to O levels.

6. Financially support my family. Balance my finances well with a good job.

7. Committing myself more into volunteering, spending more time with the athletes, getting to know them well. They have been asking me to go o/s with them for competitions next year.

8. Take good care of my health and also my family. Believe it or not....To me, Wealth is nothing compared to Health.

There are of course some other small resolutions, actually there are lots of things I can mention here. Well, even if I don’t say it here, certain things still stay in my heart, things that need to be done I will definitely not leave them behind.

And music wise....Yesh! California Gurls top the charts again!
My 5 picks this year were unexpectedly quite accurate, all in the top 6.

Here are the top 10 songs of 2010 =)

1. Katy Perry Featuring Snoop Dogg - California Gurls
2. Lady GaGa - Bad Romance
3. Justin Bieber Featuring Ludacris - Baby

6. Taylor Swift - Mine
7. Bruno Mars - Just The Way You Are
8. Adam Lambert - For Your Entertainment
9. B.o.B Featuring Hayley Williams - Airplanes

So long 2010!

Best Song of Year 2010 (4/4)

My top 5 picks for song of the year!!

Taio Cruz – Dynamite

(199 points)(Peaked twice)(14 weeks on charts)

This Ah-Beng had the song achieving the highest score this year, close to 200. Out of the 10 weeks before it could land itself at the peak, 5 of these weeks it was pretty stagnant at Number 4. I dun deny, it is a really catchy tune to dance to! This is his first smash hit in his 3 years of music career which I think it would be a tough one to match up to in the future. "Dynamite" is a perfectly fine, slightly anonymous rave-up with a nice chorus. Oh well, just that, hmm it feels OLD. Hahaha. Maybe I am just too tired of songs describing what it is like having a nice time dancing in a club. I think Flo Rida’s “Club Can’t Handle Me” can do much better in terms of being a club song. Because of its high score, it could very well be in the top 5 this year, but then again I doubt it is the Top Song.

Taylor Swift - Mine

(183 points)(Peaked twice)(13 weeks on charts)

Sighz…I am really sad that I can’t get tickets to catch her in February. But that aside, she has done herself proud with this first single off the “Speak Now” album, again releasing songs that tell her life story. I mean…how many artists can actually do that? She likes to plunge her fans into the center of a story, exposes some relatable conflict and then allow the momentum of the song’s plot to drive them forward. From a lyrical standpoint, she does everything right. However, redundancy is probably something that will weigh this song down. It is so expected and so typically Taylor and it definitely requires a bit more creativity and surprises. Last year, she got the No. 3 title for “You Belong With Me” and is definitely back to grab the top spot in 2010. I still think it lacks the X-factor though.

Lady GaGa – Bad Romance

(160 points)(Peaked twice)(12 weeks on charts)

"Rah-rah-ah-ah-ah, Roma-roma-mah, Gaga-ooh-la-la"……

It is her call to arms against the monsters of negative love relationships. Talking about revenge, she has more reason to come back this year. Her “Poker Face” was runner up song of 2009, lost to Black Eyed Peas. Anyway, her album has been repackaged over and over again and this single is actually taken off from “The Fame Monster”. I was rather surprised that it could still come up with so many great No.1 hits after repackaging. The best part of this song is its nonsense syllable chorus LOL. Oh of course not forgetting the huge martial beat and room-filling sound. Not so engaging like “Poker Face” and “LoveGame” but vocally, this is by far her best! I know she is hungry for the top spot this year but if she is the runner-up again, she still did a great job! New album coming up March 2011, looking forward to it….

Ke$ha – TiK ToK

(176 points)(Peaked 3 times)(13 weeks on charts)

An upbeat, dominant dance pop song that incorporates elements electropop in its production and beats. She likes to use Auto-Tune in the songs from her album “Animal”. It’s a nice song actually, but lyrically, this songs seems to promote sluttiness as a ‘cool’ lifestyle for young children and teenage girls. Hmm…bad influence! I like the beat though, it is definitely something that will get you dancing. Yeps, another of those clubbing songs hehe…Most likely in the top 10 this year! An impressive 3-weeks stay in the weekly charts but I don’t think it can be the top song of 2010, furthermore Ke$ha is still pretty new in the music scene.

Katy Perry Featuring Snoop Dogg – California Gurls

(183 points)(Peaked for 4 weeks)(13 weeks)

Alright, I am putting my votes on this song, perfect tune for the summer and often the summer song is something that will stay in your mind for a long period. With Snoop Dogg's opening, "Greetings loved ones, let's take a journey," we are immediately transported to a California of beaches, bikinis, and the sun so hot it "will melt your popsicle." The song is little more than light, frothy pop, but that may be exactly what you need today when dreaming about the summer and a few months from now baking happily in the sunshine. Haha, just imagine…Music video for this song was great and Katy had a nice plot planned out. Performance wise, this song had a run of 3 weeks at the top, before falling off to number 2, only for it to bounce right back up the following week. I hope she can claim the first ever female year-end number one since Madonna in 2000.

Disclaimer:
Liking this song has nothing to do with me liking California girls. Although I was there two years ago, I don’t frequent the beach that often. LOL!!

Best Female Artiste 2010 (3/4)

Her first album in 2001 was disastrous! Then two years ago, the ambitious Katy released her second album and was later well known for the little girl who gave us “Hot & Cold” and that was her best single. Making a comeback this time round, I can tell she is hungrier for more success and fame as her third album “Teenage Dream” dropped while in Singapore. Not sure if she distributed free CDs while she was swimming with bikinis on the roof garden of MBS but she was definitely there at the start of 2010. And Boomz! The first 3 hit singles went straight to the top of the charts in Singapore, one after another. Good news for her. "Teenage Dream" has been nominated for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album at the 53rd Grammy Awards. I hope she wins cause’ I feel that no one deserves it better than her.

Runner-ups Taylor Swift and GaGa doesn’t seem to have enough singles this year to push them for this award. Taylor just released her new album so things are picking up at least. AND….GaGa must know she can’t keep on repackaging her album. “The Fame” is no longer famous!

To be continued.....

Best Male Artiste 2010 (2/4)

This year, it was a choice between B.o.B and Lambert but I chose the latter.

The 8th season of American Idol Runner-up, amazingly doing much better than champion Kris Allen. I realized it has been the trend that the Runner-ups of AI has gotten much fame and success than the winner, of course with the exception of Kelly Clarkson. However, mainstream media speculation has been centered on Lambert’s sexuality, after photos of him kissing another man have been released, oh well, he didn’t really deny the fact that those are his photos. Is he gay or not? Haha, I dun really want to know. I was already a bit shocked when the past AI Runner-up Clay Aiken declared he was gay =x That’s enough. Lambert visited us this year and was part of the F1 performance. He has a rather unique fashion sense and I am looking forward to his next album.

“For Your Entertainment”, his debut album released a total of 3 singles this year. “Whataya Want From Me”, “If I had You” and “Fever”, a song wrote by GaGa , each peaked twice consecutively. An impressive performance this year!

To be continued.....

Best Newcomer Artiste 2010 (1/4)

Perhaps he came into the music scene in year-end 2009, but I was very impressed with his performance this year and would definitely pick him to be the Best Newcomer. Bieber fever is raging, in fact, by the start of 2010, his first album “My World” has gone platinum. In keeping with his hyperspeed stardom, his second album followed within five months, and he embarked on a sold-out, 6-month concert tour, but he didn’t choose to come here. Haha, I can’t believe he even got a $200k Lamborghini from Diddy! Only 16, he has made musical history as the youngest solo artiste to have two albums in the U.S. Billboard Top 200. Bieber fans can look forward to his first 3D film depicting his life story, set to hit theatres next valentine.

His very first No.1 hit this year was of course the well-known “Baby”, that was after his first two singles “One Time” and “One Less Lonely Girl” could not hit the top at all but was still pretty consistent in the top five. And guess what, haha, after that hit, everybody started to know this kid and his fan base got stronger and stronger each day. “Somebody To Love” and “U Smile” also peaked once and “Pray”, his latest song, got into the charts recently. Overall, I would say his improvement was the most significant as compared to others.

Beautiful

This year I received two surprise Christmas gifts =D
Thanks! You know who you are.

Watched Gullivers Travel, had a good laugh.
And I learnt something from Gulliver that I shd apply in my own life, just that I am not so brave =x
Had my first Mad Jack meal for lunch/dinner and I was really satisfied with the Psycho Chick n Chips and together with the soup, drink and ice cream desert, it was really worth the price.

Anyway, had a heavy discussion which we almost went out of topic.
I revealed all the silly things I did this month.
I discovered something about Return of Investment.

It was a wet Christmas!
Got a lil' drenched =(
but I came home and I saw your fb message
*beams*
Thanks!
You have fallen into the deep hole again,
I wish I could pull you back,
but....

Merry Merry Christmas!

Hohoho!

Merry X'mas to my friends and loved ones!
Hope you will receive lots of prezzies! Dun forget to party hard worz!

For those who have received gifts/cards from me, hope u guys like it =)
I have cut down on gifts and increased the number of xmas cards this year due to poor time management and some personal issues. So I am sorry if I missed out a couple of people this time round. Sometimes I am a bit forgetful (rather most of the time), but no worries, I have found for myself a way to organize my stuff well =D

For those who doesn't want anything, I will just indicate my well-wishes here.

Anyway...
Christmas is Love, this is what I see everywhere around town and it has always been part of my belief that everyone deserves something for X'mas. Spreading the love around, its really meaningful and it certainly puts a smile on everyone's face.

This year's X'mas eve has been different for me, as compared to the past few years. I am keeping it rather low-profile. No matter what you have done to welcome this festive holiday, do keep yourself healthy and remember to enjoy to the fullest. Oh well, its the end of the year!

Santa Lyon loves you =D
Good Night!
